Christmas Wrap-Up

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Grandma had a safe journey to visit us, and we had a reasonably pleasant visit. A bit strained, but no major blowups.  She and I went to see The Blind Side after Christmas, which was quite good.

We had turkey and lots of trimmings, which we’re still eating on.  Santa was very generous to Agent Murphy. Unfortunately, Grandma came with a cold and the Agent came down with it on Christmas Eve.  He was running a fever and was not himself at all — just wanted to lay on the couch.  I’d never seen that before!  So he and Daddy stayed home while Grandma and I went to Mass.  The Agent was still very subdued on Christmas morning, but was returning to normal by the afternoon.  After all, there were lots of new toys to play with!

Mr. Tldz was on call for work on Christmas Day, but fortunately it was very quiet.  He has New Year’s Eve duty, and again on January 2.  Hopefully those will be quiet, too.

Grandma says there was a blizzard in Indiana on the way home on Sunday, but she still made good time and arrived home safely.

And so now we come to wrapping up 2009, which seems hard to believe!

Mr. Tldz went to lunch with Chef Knight today to discuss K of C business. Since Chef Knight’s kids are out of school — 5-year-old twins, boy and girl — they stayed with me and Agent Murphy while the dads went to lunch. G. and M. were very good, though they didn’t eat much lunch, unlike the Agent, who cleaned his plate as usual.  We watched A Charlie Brown Christmas and G. ran the Agent around quite a bit, so he really needs to be napping now, but of course he is refusing. All in all, a fun time.

Christmas has been mailed!

Finished prepping all our Christmas cards this morning and dropped them off at the post office this afternoon.  Had to stand in line to mail one package to Mr. Tldz’s dad.  Of course, the line was long, and there was only one person working the counter; but she was doing her best to move everyone through.  Whew – that’s done!

We decorated the tree on Sunday. Now we just have to make the grocery list for Christmas (when we finalize the menu), get the grocery shopping done, make the cooking schedule, and clean/prep the house for Grandma’s visit.
