Busy, busy, busy

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

As Mr. Tldz posted yesterday, we’re about to get our house listed.  Our realtor is coming over tomorrow afternoon and we’re going to look at 4 listings in our immediate neighborhood (2 on our street, 2 in the next subdivision over) in order to help us decide on a listing price for this place, and then we’ll officially be on the market.

We looked at 9 or 10 houses yesterday in the area we’d like to move to.  None will suit our needs.  I’ve gone back  through the listings online and identified some others to look at in that zip code, and in another that I think will work well for us.  Given what we saw yesterday, I really think we’re going to have to look at pretty much every listing in the right area in our price range in order to find our new house, because we have some pretty specific layout/configuration needs that can’t really be captured in the typical listing description.  Oh well, it will be an adventure.  And after what I saw yesterday, I’m feeling better about how our house will show.

On The Move

Agent Murphy still aproves of the new floor. He has taken to dancing on it, especially when he is wearing his shoes. He seems to enjoy the distinctive and pronounced noise that the tile makes.

Our Agent, however, thought that the newly painted walls could use some touching up and promptly tested out the effect of blackberry juice on the wall by his seat at the dinner table.

In other news, Mrs. Tldz is out today with the realtor looking at houses to get a better sense of how their physical spaces compare to their listings. The realtor expects that our current abode will be listed in the next day or so, which is good.

Kitchen floor

Can I just say the new floor is looking fantastic?  It’s fabulous!  Tomorrow it gets grout, and then the grout is sealed on Saturday and then it’s all done.  (And we get our stove back  – hooray!)  I’m wishing we’d done this before preparing to put the house on the market!

Job Search

Mr. Tldz is looking, since it doesn’t seem like the issues he’s been having with his boss will get any better, despite his attempts to address them.  A couple of weeks ago, he found out about a position that seemed like a really good lead (working with a former co-worker) and he applied for it.  Then nothing happened.  Nothing.  Nothing.  But I just heard from Mr. Tldz that he has an interview scheduled for Friday morning.  Hooray!

Hectic, but still here

No, haven’t fallen off the face of the earth.  Things have just been busy.  We are working quickly to have our house ready to list.  As I write this, our kitchen floor is being replaced.  Next week on Wednesday, the painters come. They start with the exterior.  They’ll work on the interior while we’re out of town Mach 13-15.  (What a blessing that is!)  We have decided to paint the kitchen, too, so that may take a little longer since they have to remove wallpaper and prep the walls.  But nonetheless, we should be able to get back to normal by the 17th or so.  Well, normal but sparser.  All the stuff hanging on the walls, the knick knacks, etc. that I’m packing up to prepare for the painters will stay packed, since hopefully we’ll get to move soon.

Planning a pro-life committee fundraising project this spring to benefit PATH (similar to the Baby Bottle Boomerang program we did two years ago to benefit Birthright).

Have a rental minivan again because our car is in the shop, trying to rectify the post-accident fuel gauge problem that they couldn’t figure out when they did the original body work.  That’s been a saga, but not worth rehashing; hopefully it will be all better soon.  Have a new Town & Country this time – with power sliding doors and mirrors.  Very nice.  Power mirrors a definite must.  Power sliding doors are nice, too.

Preparing for our first road trip with a toddler.  Hopefully we have some things that will keep him busy in the car, and we’ve acquired an electric cooler for the car to make feeding him on the road a little easier.  This drive to Greensboro will just be a dry run for our big trip to Chicago at the end of May.

Getting close to time for Agent Murphy’s lunch, so I must go.
